We are a collective of talented belly dance instructors from the Inland Empire teaching many genres of belly dance within the Inland Empire from beginning to advanced levels and and also performing within and beyond Southern California!

​The women of Scimitar Dance Company are available to perform as soloists or as an ensemble in a variety of venues such as community events, social associations, cultural events, resturants, showcases, weddings, zeffas, birthdays, lectures, anniversaries, demonstrations, private parties, and more! Scimitar Dance Company members have performed all over Southern California, Las Vegas, Nevada, and are emerging as one of the memorable entertaining groups of the region.

If you are looking for a cardio workout alternative that is gentle to the knees and back and still provides toning and calorie-burning opportunities, or if you've ever been curious about belly dance in general - this is the workout for you!
Come have fun and work out using basic belly dance moves combined with other elements of world dance.
No prior belly dance experience needed. The drills and movements are simple to follow. Beginners are most welcome!

​ Shimmy Mob!!!​
On May 10, 2014 come join us downtown Riverside near the Mission Inn at 2:00pm to support our cause - the Shimmy Mob! We are raising awareness for domestic violence and will be doing a flash-mob style performance for you!

By popular demand, we have added a new class - Beginning level/Level I & II. This class will meet on Fridays from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

As of November 1, 2012, the physical location of Academy of World Dance in Moreno Valley has moved. Our instructors will continue to teach at various locations in the Inland Empire. Please check the 'Class Information' tab for location updates. Our instructors are available for private instruction in the comfort of your own home or upon studio location availability.​
​During this transitional time, all outstanding class passes will be honored through November 1, 2013.

​Shimmy Mob & Spring Hafla
On May 11, 2013, following our Shimmy Mob in downtown Riverside, there will be a hafla at Anahata Movement Arts location from 4:30pm to 8:00pm. There will be lots of dancing, drumming, and our charity, House of Ruth will be there as well.
Cover Charge: Donation only with potluck dish to share (please no containers that need to be heated up or plugged in)

Dancer lineup is limited based on first come, first served - please email etoile at academyofworlddance@yahoo.com to reserve a spot on the list! Open dancing and drumming will also be going on too!
